What we collect

TGMetrics reads public Telegram channels and groups: channel names, member counts, and the messages posted in them, together with view, forward, and reply counts that Telegram displays publicly. We do not read private chats, invite-only groups, or direct messages.

We also read public posts on X and public posts and comments on Reddit that name a coin we track, together with the public account name, follower count, account age, and the engagement figures each platform shows.

How we treat people

We do not store Telegram user names, user IDs, phone numbers, or profiles of individual members. Where we count active members, the sender of each message is replaced with a one-way salted hash that cannot be turned back into an identity. Messages written by members are never displayed on this site; only aggregate figures such as sentiment, topics, and activity levels are shown. Announcements published by a channel's admins may be quoted, as they are public statements by the community itself.

Accounts on X are treated differently from Telegram members. A post on X is published under a public account name to a public audience, so where we show which accounts posted about a coin we name the account and link to the post. We report what was posted and how far it travelled. We do not say why an account posted, and nothing on the site should be read as a claim that a post was paid for or that an account endorses a coin.

Why we process it

Our legitimate interest in providing public-interest analytics about crypto communities: helping people verify official channels, detect impersonation and scams, and judge whether a community is genuine. We weigh this against the interests of Telegram members, which is why their individual messages and identities are excluded from what we publish.

Retention

Aggregate figures and channel-level history are kept indefinitely, since they are the record the service provides. Message text is retained for analysis and is not published.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with data protection rights, you can ask what we hold that relates to you, object to processing, or ask for erasure. For Telegram we do not store identities, so we handle such requests by reference to the channel and message concerned. For a post on X, name the account or link the post. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are used. No advertising cookies are set by us.

Data is stored on servers in the European Union.
