What we collect

TGMetrics reads public Telegram channels and groups: channel names, member counts, and the messages posted in them, together with view, forward, and reply counts that Telegram displays publicly. We do not read private chats, invite-only groups, or direct messages.

How we treat people

We do not store Telegram user names, user IDs, phone numbers, or profiles of individual members. Where we count active members, the sender of each message is replaced with a one-way salted hash that cannot be turned back into an identity. Messages written by members are never displayed on this site; only aggregate figures such as sentiment, topics, and activity levels are shown. Announcements published by a channel's admins may be quoted, as they are public statements by the community itself.

Why we process it

Our legitimate interest in providing public-interest analytics about crypto communities: helping people verify official channels, detect impersonation and scams, and judge whether a community is genuine. We weigh this against the interests of members, which is why individual content and identities are excluded from what we publish.

Retention

Aggregate figures and channel-level history are kept indefinitely, since they are the record the service provides. Message text is retained for analysis and is not published.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with data protection rights, you can ask what we hold that relates to you, object to processing, or ask for erasure. Because we do not store identities, we handle such requests by reference to the channel and message concerned. Use the corrections and removal page.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are used. No advertising cookies are set by us.

Data is stored on servers in the European Union.
